Denver isn’t quite out of the woods with winter weather yet.

Some snow will continue falling through midday in the Denver metro area, adding between one and three inches of accumulation mainly from Denver to the north and west.

Because of the snow cover on the ground, temperatures across the area will struggle to get above 20 degrees, forecasters at the National Weather Service in Boulder said. Denver’s high Saturday is 23 degrees.

The lows Saturday night will be even worse.

The snow cover and clear skies overnight will support low temperatures in the single digits in most areas, with Denver’s low at 10 degrees.

The city of Denver still has emergency overnight shelters open for people to escape the cold.

After Saturday, Denver will slowly start to warm up. Sunday’s high is 40 degrees, but the low will still be frigid at 17 degrees.

The rest of next week is expected to stay in the 40s and 50s, with lows in the 20s.
