Why throw shade at CU Buffs coach Deion Sanders when you could wear a pair of shades he helped inspire?

On Friday, San Diego-based Blenders eyewear company revealed a new line of sunglasses created in partnership with Coach Prime. The limited-edition style combines Blenders’ Millenia X2 silhouette with the company’s sleek PureBlend Polar Lens “bringing a fusion of style, sports, and spirit to fans across the nation,” per a statement.

The design is available for pre-order today in the Buffs’ signature gold and black colors. They go on sale Oct. 12 and each pair costs $67.

“I’m not new to this, I’m TRUE 2 THIS! And the Blenders Eyewear family and myself certainly see eye 2 eye on our commitment to QUALITY and STYLE,” said Sanders in a statement. “See, eyewear is much larger than just fashion. It’s an outlet to EXPRESS YOURSELF, it’s a CONVERSATION STARTER, it sets the DARN TONE! Look good, feel good, PLAY GOOD!”

News about the release comes as the University of Colorado and Colorado State University football teams are set to face off on the field Saturday in the Rocky Mountain Showdown. And their rivalry was the stuff of national news this week.

Ahead of the match, CSU coach Jay Norvell hurled insults at Sanders’ style during press conferences, stating “When I talk to grownups, I take my hat and my glasses off.”

Sanders – donning a hat and sunglasses – told this team Norvell’s words will only fuel the team this weekend.

“Why would you want to talk about us when we don’t talk about nobody? All we do is go out here, work our butts off and do our job on Saturday. But when they give us ammunition, they done messed around and made it, what?,” Sanders said, according to Yahoo.

To which his players responded: “Personal.”

In a clip shared this morning on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Sanders took a moment to throw a little shade back at Norvell. Announcing the Blenders collaboration to his team, Coach Prime said “They don’t realize they just helped me with business.”

The CU Buffs are 2-0 this season under Sanders’ leadership, while CSU is 0-1. The game kicks off from Boulder at 8 p.m.
