Police in Pasadena, California on Tuesday released additional details about a theft from the University of Colorado Buffaloes locker room during a game against UCLA at the Rose Bowl on Oct. 28.
Four CU football players were identified as victims in a report released by the Pasadena Police Department, ranging from 20 to 23 years old. Police are not aware of additional victims in the case, according to city officials.
The incident was reported at 9:22 p.m. at the visiting locker room at the Rose Bowl when unknown suspects entered the locker room “by unknown means” and stole items from the players’ lockers.
The items stolen were three “diamond-plated” necklaces with medallions bearing the players’ initials, a pair of headphones and miscellaneous football equipment, according to a police report.
Buffs football coach Deion Sanders has pushed back against critics questioning why the players were flaunting their jewelry.
“They shouldn’t be blessed?” Sanders said in the aftermath of the theft. “That’s crazy. It’s like if you have a car in your driveway and somebody comes and steal your car, well, you shouldnt have a car? That’s how stupid that sounds.”
Several of those items have been returned to CU players, Pasadena police said Friday.
There were no injuries and no weapons involved, according to police.
Pasadena police previously reported the suspects in the case are believed to be juveniles.
